Ba Na Hills Golden Bridge is touristy but those giant stone hands holding up the walkway are genuinely impressive. Go on a weekday right at 8am or you'll be in selfie-stick hell. The cable car ride itself is worth the 750,000 VND, longest in the world and the views are insane.

My Khe Beach at dawn is why you come here. Fishermen pulling in nets, locals doing tai chi, barely any foreigners. Water was a bit cool in February but the sand is powder soft. Grabbed banh xeo from a street cart on Vo Nguyen Giap for 20,000 VND, crispy and perfect.

Marble Mountains are underrated. Climbed all five peaks and the view from Thuy Son over the coast is unreal. The caves inside have these hidden Buddhist shrines that feel like discovering a secret. Wear good shoes, the stone steps are worn smooth and slippery. Entry is only 40,000 VND.

Hoi An is technically nearby but feels worlds away. Took the Grab bike over in 40 minutes and spent the day getting a custom dress made for $45. Lantern-lit old town at night is every bit as magical as people say. The boat ride with paper lanterns was 100,000 VND and totally cheesy but I loved it.

Dragon Bridge fire show on Saturday and Sunday nights at 9pm. It's free, it's loud, and fire actually shoots from a dragon's mouth into the river. We watched from a rooftop cafe on Tran Hung Dao and had the best angle. Da Nang is way cleaner and more organized than Saigon, felt very livable.

Son Tra Peninsula by motorbike was my favorite day. The Lady Buddha statue at Linh Ung Pagoda is 67 meters tall and visible from the city. Saw actual monkeys on the road near Ban Co Peak. The seafood at the fishing village of Bai But was so fresh, grilled squid for 80,000 VND.

Han Market is chaotic in the best way. Bought coffee beans on the second floor and the vendor ground them for me on the spot. Bargaining is expected, start at 60% of what they ask. The snails in coconut sauce at a stall near the east entrance were weirdly addictive. Bring hand sanitizer, it's a wet market.

Stayed in the An Thuong expat area and loved the local vibe. Tried cao lau at a tiny spot on Chau Thi Vinh Te, supposedly the noodles have to be made with water from a specific well in Hoi An. Not sure if that's true but it was delicious. Da Nang is Vietnam's best kept secret, don't tell too many people.
