As a massive Harry Potter fan, Christ Church was a dream come true. Seeing the actual dining hall that inspired the Great Hall, the staircase where Snape says "Follow the spiders" - I was geeking out the entire time. My partner thought I'd lost my mind! The college is stunning even without the HP connection.

The Eagle and Child pub was the highlight of my trip. I'm a Tolkien and C.S. Lewis devotee, so standing in the room where the Inklings met was incredibly moving. The pub hasn't changed much since the 1940s. The academic atmosphere in Oxford is palpable - you can feel centuries of brilliant minds here.

The formal gardens are beautiful, and the butterfly house was a delightful surprise. This was the perfect day trip from Oxford.

The Ashmolean Museum is one of the best museums I've ever visited - and it's free! The collection is extraordinary, from Egyptian artifacts to Renaissance art. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise. Magdalen College's grounds along the Cherwell were peaceful and beautiful.

Alice's Shop brought tears to my eyes - I'm a huge Carroll fan. Standing in the very shop where Alice Liddell bought her sweets, knowing Carroll was right there telling stories to the Liddell children - it's magical. The walk to the meadow where Carroll first told Alice in Wonderland was perfect.

Climbing St Mary's the Virgin tower was the best decision. The 360-degree views of Oxford's spires are unforgettable - you can see why Arnold called them "dreaming." The climb is steep but manageable, and our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Oxford's history.
