Miami World Cup Experience
7 Days of Soccer, Sun, and Cuban Soul
Why Miami for the World Cup?
Miami is the most international city in America, a place where Spanish is spoken more often than English and where the culture feels closer to Havana or Caracas than to the rest of the United States. When Hard Rock Stadium hosts the 3rd place match of the 2026 World Cup, the atmosphere will reflect that diversity. Fans from across Latin America, Europe, and beyond will gather in a city that understands soccer in its bones. The 3rd place match might not have the stakes of the final, but in Miami, any excuse for a party is a good one.
Hard Rock Stadium, located in Miami Gardens about fifteen miles north of downtown, underwent a $500 million renovation that transformed it from a generic football stadium into one of the best soccer venues in America. The canopy roof provides shade for most seats, the video boards are enormous, and the atmosphere for big matches is electric. The stadium has hosted Copa America matches, El Clasico friendlies, and international finals. It knows how to put on a show.
But Miami is not just a stadium. It is South Beach, with its Art Deco architecture and neon lights. It is Little Havana, where Cuban exiles built a community that preserves the culture they left behind. It is Wynwood, where street art covers every wall and the galleries showcase artists from around the world. It is the Everglades, where alligators patrol the wetlands and the air smells of mangrove and salt. This itinerary gives you the soccer, the sun, and the soul of a city that defies easy categorization.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival & South Beach
Get Your Bearings in the Magic City
🌅 Morning
Fly into Miami International Airport, which is about eight miles west of downtown. The airport is busy but efficient, with good international connections. Take a rideshare or the Metrorail to your hotel. If you are staying in South Beach, the airport is about twenty minutes away by car. Check in and get oriented. South Beach is walkable, vibrant, and slightly overwhelming in the best way. The Art Deco buildings, the palm trees, and the ocean create a scene that is unmistakably Miami.
🍽️ Afternoon
Walk along Ocean Drive, the iconic street that runs parallel to the beach. The Art Deco buildings, painted in pastel colors and trimmed with neon, are a architectural treasure. The Wolfsonian-FIU museum, housed in a former storage building, has an excellent collection of Art Deco and modern design. Have lunch at Joe's Stone Crab, a Miami institution since 1913 that serves the best stone crabs in the world. The claws are served chilled with mustard sauce, and they are worth every penny.
🌙 Evening
Walk along the beach at sunset, when the sky turns pink and orange and the ocean reflects the colors. Have dinner at Yardbird Southern Table and Bar, a restaurant that serves excellent fried chicken and bourbon cocktails in a stylish setting. After dinner, explore the South Beach nightlife. The bars and clubs along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue range from laid-back to high-energy, and the people-watching is some of the best in America.
Little Havana & Cuban Culture
Experience the Heart of Miami
🌅 Morning
Take a rideshare to Little Havana, the Cuban neighborhood that is the cultural soul of Miami. Start with breakfast at Versailles, the legendary Cuban restaurant on Calle Ocho that has been serving cafecito, croquetas, and Cuban toast since 1971. The atmosphere is loud, chaotic, and utterly authentic. Walk along Calle Ocho, the main street, and visit the Domino Park, where elderly Cuban men gather to play dominoes and argue about politics. The park is a living piece of Cuban culture.
🍽️ Afternoon
Visit the Cubaocho Museum and Performing Arts Center, which showcases Cuban art and hosts live music. The collection includes works by Cuban masters and contemporary artists. Have lunch at La Carreta, a Cuban chain that serves excellent ropa vieja, lechon asado, and plantains. After lunch, visit the Bay of Pigs Museum, which tells the story of the failed invasion from the perspective of the Cuban exiles who participated. The museum is small but powerful.
🌙 Evening
Stay in Little Havana for dinner at Ball and Chain, a historic bar and restaurant that has been restored to its 1930s glory. The bar was a hangout for jazz musicians and gangsters in its heyday, and the live music lineup is excellent. The cocktails are strong and the Cuban-inspired small plates are perfect for sharing. After dinner, walk along Calle Ocho and soak in the atmosphere. The street comes alive at night, with music spilling from bars and restaurants.
Hard Rock Stadium & Soccer Day
Experience Miami's Soccer Cathedral
🌅 Morning
Take a rideshare or drive to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Even if there is no match today, the stadium tour is worth doing. The renovation transformed the stadium from a generic bowl into a modern venue with a canopy roof, enormous video boards, and excellent sightlines. The tour takes you through the locker rooms, the tunnel, and the field. The Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame, inside the stadium, tells the story of the franchise and the stadium's history of hosting major events.
🍽️ Afternoon
Have lunch at Jackson's Soul Food, a Miami Gardens institution that serves fried chicken, collard greens, and mac and cheese in a no-frills setting. The food is hearty, authentic, and delicious. After lunch, visit the nearby Oleta River State Park, Florida's largest urban park. The park has kayaking, mountain biking, and beaches, all within the city limits. The mangrove trails are peaceful and offer a glimpse of old Florida.
🌙 Evening
Head back to Miami and have dinner at KYU, a Asian-inspired restaurant in Wynwood that serves wood-fired dishes in a stylish setting. The Korean fried chicken and the roasted cauliflower are both excellent. After dinner, explore Wynwood's nightlife. The bars and galleries in the neighborhood have a creative, youthful energy that is different from the glamour of South Beach. The Wynwood Walls, a collection of street art murals, are beautifully lit at night.
Match Day: The 3rd Place Match
The Final Party at Hard Rock Stadium
🌅 Morning
Match day for the 3rd place match is a celebration. Sleep in, then have a leisurely brunch at The Social Club on Collins Avenue, a restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and brunch in a stylish setting. The pancakes and the eggs Benedict are both excellent. After brunch, take it easy. Maybe visit the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, a peaceful oasis in the middle of South Beach, or just relax by the pool. You will need your energy for tonight's party.
🍽️ Afternoon
Head to Hard Rock Stadium at least three hours before kickoff. The traffic on match days is intense, and you do not want to miss the buildup. The fan zone outside the stadium will be in full swing, with live music, food vendors, and supporters from both teams mixing together. The 3rd place match is often more relaxed than the final, with both teams playing for pride rather than the trophy. The atmosphere is festive rather than tense. Find your seat early, watch the warmups, and prepare for a night of great soccer and great energy.
🌙 Evening
After the match, the party continues. Miami does not shut down early, and the 3rd place match is an excuse to celebrate. Head back to South Beach and hit the clubs along Ocean Drive, or find a quieter bar in the Collins Park neighborhood for a more relaxed evening. The Broken Shaker, a cocktail bar at the Freehand Miami hostel, serves excellent drinks in a garden setting. The crowd is a mix of travelers and locals, and the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious.

The adjacent galleries showcase emerging artists from around the world.
🍽️ Afternoon
Walk north to the Design District, Miami's luxury shopping and design neighborhood. The streets are lined with high-end boutiques, art galleries, and furniture showrooms. The architecture is bold and contemporary, with buildings designed by architects from around the world. Have lunch at Michael's Genuine Food and Drink, a restaurant that serves excellent seasonal American food in a casual setting. The wood-fired dishes and the raw bar are both strong.
🌙 Evening
Have dinner at Mandolin Aegean Bistro, a Greek and Turkish restaurant in the Design District that serves excellent mezze and grilled fish in a beautiful outdoor setting. The atmosphere is romantic and relaxed, with string lights and bougainvillea. After dinner, explore the Design District's nightlife. The bars here are more refined than those in South Beach, with craft cocktails and wine lists that rival any city in America.
Everglades Day Trip
Alligators, Airboats, and Old Florida
🌅 Morning
Take a rideshare or join a tour to the Everglades National Park, about an hour west of Miami. The Everglades is a unique ecosystem, a slow-moving river of grass that is home to alligators, panthers, and hundreds of bird species. Start with an airboat tour, which zips through the sawgrass and gives you close-up views of alligators and wading birds. The boats are loud and fast, and the experience is thrilling. The guides know the area and can spot wildlife that you would miss on your own.
🍽️ Afternoon
After the airboat tour, visit the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center to learn about the Everglades ecosystem and the efforts to preserve it. The exhibits are informative and the rangers are knowledgeable. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant that serves frog legs, gator bites, and other Florida specialties. The food is touristy but fun, and the atmosphere is pure Old Florida. After lunch, take a short hike on the Anhinga Trail, a boardwalk that winds through a sawgrass marsh and offers guaranteed alligator sightings.
🌙 Evening
Head back to Miami and have dinner at Coyo Taco in Wynwood, a casual taqueria that serves excellent tacos and margaritas. After dinner, have a drink at the Bar at Coyo, a speakeasy-style bar hidden behind a door in the back of the restaurant. The cocktails are excellent and the atmosphere is intimate and fun.
Final Day & Departure
Last Cafecito and Fond Farewells
🌅 Morning
On your last morning, have breakfast at La Colada Gourmet, a Cuban coffee shop on Calle Ocho that serves excellent cafecito, pastelitos, and breakfast sandwiches. The atmosphere is pure Little Havana, with regulars chatting in Spanish and the smell of espresso in the air. After breakfast, take one last walk along Ocean Drive or through the Wynwood Walls, depending on what you want to remember. The morning light on the Art Deco buildings is beautiful, and the city feels calm before the midday heat.
🍽️ Afternoon
If you have time before your flight, make one last stop at Azucar Ice Cream Company in Little Havana, an ice cream shop that serves Cuban-inspired flavors like cafe con leche, mantecado, and guava. The ice cream is excellent and the atmosphere is cheerful. Pick up some Cuban coffee or guava paste to take home. Then head to Miami International Airport, allowing plenty of time. Security lines can be long, especially during peak travel periods.
