Liverpudlian Accent Note: The Liverpool accent (called "Scouse") is famous worldwide thanks to the Beatles. We drop our Hs, lengthen our vowels, and say "hi" as "hay," "right" as "reet," and "night" as "noight." Liverpool people are known for being hilarious, warm, and extremely proud of their city. We'll tell you the best spots - just ask!

Practical Tips

Getting There

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) has good connections. Trains from London take about 2.5 hours.

Transportation

Liverpool is very walkable. The Mersey Ferry is a must-do experience - you can see the whole waterfront from the river.

Football Tickets

Getting tickets for Liverpool or Everton matches is very difficult. Book months in advance through official channels.

Beatles Tours

The Magical Mystery Tour is the best Beatles tour. There are cheaper alternatives but this one is comprehensive.

What to Pack

Layers for all weather, comfortable walking shoes, and red or blue clothing to show your football allegiance!

Local Etiquette

Liverpudlians are incredibly friendly and welcoming. If someone calls you "pet" or "duck," it's a term of endearment! Don't call it "New Liverpool" - just Liverpool!

The Magical Mystery Tour was the highlight of my entire UK trip! Our guide was hilarious and so knowledgeable about all things Beatles. Standing outside Strawberry Field brought tears to my eyes - I've loved the Beatles my whole life. The Cavern Club that night was incredible. Liverpool really is a special place.

I'm a die-hard Liverpool FC fan and Anfield did not disappoint. Walking through the tunnel, seeing all those trophies - I was completely overwhelmed. The museum was excellent too. My dad would have loved this. The atmosphere on match day must be absolutely electric!

I didn't know much about Liverpool before visiting - now I love it! The waterfront is stunning, the people are so friendly, and the food was better than expected. Scouse is the perfect comfort food after walking all day. The Tate Liverpool had a fantastic contemporary art exhibition too.

The Beatles Story museum was fantastic - even as someone who isn't a huge Beatles fan, I found it fascinating. The replicas of the Cavern Club and the attention to detail were impressive. Chester as a day trip was a lovely contrast - the Roman walls and medieval Rows were so interesting.

Both cathedrals are must-sees. The Anglican Cathedral is absolutely enormous - the largest in the UK. Climbing the tower gave incredible views of the city and the Mersey. The Metropolitan Cathedral's modern design is striking. What a contrast between the two!
