Practical Information for Your Las Vegas Adventure

Best Time to Visit

Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) offer the most pleasant temperatures for both Strip walking and desert exploring. Summer highs regularly exceed 105 degrees, making outdoor activities challenging. Winter brings cooler weather and lower hotel rates, though pool parties shut down. Major conventions and fight weekends drive prices up significantly.

Budget Tips

Las Vegas accommodates every budget. High-rollers can spend $500 per night on suites and $300 per person on dinners. Budget travelers find clean rooms off-Strip for under $50 and excellent meals at casino cafés for $15. The key is mixing splurge experiences with affordable ones. Many top attractions, like the Bellagio fountains and Fremont Street light shows, are completely free.

Getting Around

The Strip is walkable but deceptively long, about 4.2 miles from Mandalay Bay to the Strat. The Las Vegas Monorail runs behind the east side of the Strip and costs $5 per ride. Rideshare services operate everywhere, and most hotels have dedicated pickup areas. Rental cars are recommended only if visiting Hoover Dam, Red Rock, or the Grand Canyon.

Show & Dining Reservations

Book show tickets and fine dining reservations at least two weeks in advance, especially for Cirque du Soleil and celebrity chef restaurants. Tix4Tonight booths sell same-day discounted show tickets, though selection is limited. Many restaurants offer pre-theater menus that provide excellent value.
